Phezulu
This exceptional villa in Higgovale is an adventure in and of itself. Filled with immersive, luminescent installations, original art, and high-end furniture pieces, it is a sensual feast.
As you enter this magnificent space, you are greeted by an enchanting entrance area bathed in natural light. When we first visited this property, we were filled by a sense of excitement about what hidden delights might await us. There is an adventurous use of colour and texture everywhere, leading one’s eye to travel and land from one focal point to the next. The whole space speaks and feels like an act of creativity.
The light and airy dining area seats up to 12 guests and has an indoor-outdoor flow leading to the perfectly manicured garden. The impeccable entertainment area presents a gorgeous flow between the well-equipped kitchen and dining room table. The living room is tastefully decorated in soft hues and leads to the comfortably furnished deck. This whole area can be cordoned off when the weather is less favourable or can be a wonderful space for family and friends to interact during meal preparation.
From the swimming pool, you can enjoy unparalleled mountain and city views. When you are here you will truly understand why this villa is aptly named Phezulu. This word is derived from IsiZulu and means ‘up, above, on or on top of.’ Scale and space in general play an integral role in making this villa as unique as it is. One feels on top of the world here.
On the upper level of the villa, you will find six spacious bedrooms. The main bedroom has an ensuite shower and bath. Further to this there is one bedroom with a bath and 4 each with its own shower.
An extraordinary feature of this villa is a walkway leading from the upper-level entertainment area. Surrounded by a curated Fynbos Garden and with sweeping 280-degree views of the Cape, from Signal Hill and the peninsula through to the Franschhoek and Stellenbosch areas, you find yourself in the midst of nature.
Higgovale is situated in front of Table Mountain to the south of Camps Bay Drive and is bordered by the suburb of Camps Bay to the west and Oranjezicht to the east with Lions Head to its immediate West. From here the Atlantic Ocean and Mother City beckons to be explored.
