Robertson Hills Manor House
The Robertson Wine Valley, which is known as the world's longest wine route, runs along Route62 following the 'Langkloof'. In the picturesque Nuy Valley between Robertson and Worcester, a scenic 90-minute drive from Cape Town, lies the elegant, country-chic Robertson Hills Manor House. The historic white-washed, thatched-roofed building is nestled at the foot of the majestic Langeberg Mountain Range (South Africa’s longest) on 3,000 acres of private land. From here, exceptional views stretch across the Breede Valley to the Franschhoek mountains beyond.
The Manor House, dating back to 1840, is a magnificent example of Cape Dutch architecture. Having been beautifully restored, the house is thatched with a four-pilaster Worcester-type gable and sits under two palm trees that reach right into the sky, planted so the farm could be seen by travellers from many miles away.
Robertson Hills Manor House can sleep up to eight guests in four beautifully decorated bedrooms and three large bathrooms, ideal for extended families or groups of friends. It has a spacious sitting room with fireplace, a large well-appointed, traditional ‘farmhouse’ kitchen with an agar, a spacious dining/living room and its own private pool. The house is air-conditioned with Wi-Fi and a TV.
The views from the manor house are breathtaking and the house opens beautifully onto the lawns below.
A key element of the vision of Robertson Hills Manor House and farm is the focus on conservation, biodiversity and sustainability. From the fountain water that feeds the house and gardens to the emphasis on indigenous planting and waste management, they seek to operate in a way that maximises its contribution to the environment and society in the area.
A host of activities are available on-site. With dams and pools for fishing, canoeing and swimming, to boules and croquet lawns, there is something for everyone. Take a scenic walk or hike down one of the five trails leading from the farm (one of which leads to a gorgeous natural rockpool), enjoy an afternoon of birdwatching, or play a game of tennis on a tennis court with the best views of the Karoo.
Delight your senses at The Cellars Restaurant. Fresh seasonal produce, excellent service and fantastic local wines are the highlight of any visit to the restaurant. As a working wine farm, with six lively and irresistible wines in its portfolio, it offers a quality badge for established and exclusive wines of South Africa.
For couples wishing to celebrate, the farm offers the perfect destination weekend wedding venue. The team promises a unique celebration for a small intimate wedding or an extravagant affair in a truly authentic landscape.
